Lulu – To Sir With Love lyrics
Those schoolgirl days
Of telling tales, and biting nails, are gone
But in my mind,
I know they will still live on and on
But how do you thank someone
Who has taken you from crayons to perfume?
It isn't easy, but I'll try
If you wanted the sky,
I would write across the sky in letters,
That would soar a thousand feet high:
"To Sir, With Love"

Those awkward years
Have hurried by. Why did they fly away?
Why is it, Sir,
Children grow up to be people one day?
What takes the place of climbing trees,
And dirty knees in the world outside?
What is there for you I can buy?
If you wanted the world,
I'd surround it with walls. I'd scrawl
In letters ten feet tall:
"To Sir, With Love"

The time has come
For closing books; and long last looks must end
And as I leave,
I know that I am leaving my best friend
A friend who taught me right from wrong,
And weak from strong -- that's a lot to learn

What -- what can I give you in return?
If you wanted the moon,
I would try to make a start... But I
Would rather you let me give my heart
To Sir, With Love

I sang this song my senior year graduation 1975 and every reunion I sing it for my classmates. This year 40 year reunion just meant more. I wanted to cry because we have many classmates and to see all of us a little older it's touching. Dedicated to Harlandale HS class 75 San Antonio Texas "To Sir with Love". Thank you Mr Lyle choir teacher.

My first wife sent me this song. We were very young when we got married, and we lived together for just 6 years growing up and learning to love together. It ended horribly and we lost touch for 32 years. We found each other on zfacebook and we discovered the truths of what broke us apart. We were young and dumb and we cheated each other out of a wonderful love that waited 32 years to reignite. She's married, has been for 24 years to a great guy. Time has past, we know we loved each other than and feel so much love still, but it is impossible. Thank you for the idea of this song my darling once-upon-a-time.

The version of the song we hear on the radio are the first and third verses and choruses. The version of the song in the movie are the first and second verses and choruses. Is there any version where all three verses and choruses are on one recording? I have been searching high and low online and I cannot find any version except for the studio version (1st & 3rd vs/ch). Only from watching the movie did I learn there is a real second verse and chorus.

This song reminds me of my early years school teacher and at our graduation we sang this song to him and that was 1987 now 25yrs later my sister sang this song solo to the same teacher and this time it has a new meaning for me because when she sang it yesterday at her graduation it made our dad cry, it just touched our hearts in a special way hearing her sing.

I retired after 44 of teaching. The last 6 years I taught AP U.S. History. I worked the students hard, they knew I cared and they learned. Many passed the AP exam. I have a memory book a student gave me. Most of the students signed it and left such wonderful messages like you were the best teacher I ever had, I learned so much, I hated history before I was in your class, I love you, it goes on and on. I received many tokens of appreciation. When I hear Lulu sing to Sir With Love it reminds me on the wonderful students I had, and how much I cared about them, not only as students but as persons as well. The song brings tears to my eyes.

Wow, for me his song has a double meaning. I had not seen the movie when a new friend, in a new neighborhood sang it for me to show off her ability. I can still hear her voice and see her dancing to the tune at age 13. She died early at age 44. Now I also think of my ex lover, ex partner, and still mentor who has been so instrumental in my adult growth to understanding myself, the word and finances all while growing in the direction of becoming a better person, first to myself and then to the world and the people in my life.

I just noticed that I had a few typos in my post. I did use capital letters "i" and "usa" and I meant to add gave "up" about the higher paying job, but when I did the post, a lot of the letters didn't stay capitalized. I also used a capital "s" in "sir" and I mispelled "illiterate" my wireless keyboard doesn't always type the letters if I don't hit certain keys hard enough. I also did use capital letters here, but don't know if they will show up that way until I post this.
