Young Thug biography
Young Thug is a well known US singer and rapper who was born on August 16, 1991. His original name is Jeffrey Lamar Williams and he is also a very popular record producer and song writer. This talented musician is hugely popular for his eccentrically vocal style. He has a problematic childhood and adolescent life. Young Thug became a father at the age of 17 and by this time; he had diverted his attention to music and rapping.
Thug released a good number of independent mix tapes with I Came from Nothing. Rapper Gucci Mane realized his talent and signed an agreement with him. The first independent album of Young Thugs came out under Gucci’s banner 1017 Thug in 2013.
In the same year, his first single titled Stoner was launched and it was followed by the song called Danny Glover. These songs were big hits and several DJ’s and rappers used his songs. 2014 made him a star and the popularity of his songs reached new heights. Thug went on to collaborate with popular artists like Trick Daddy, Travis Scott, and Alex Tumay.
He came up with a good number of mix tapes in 2015 and they include Barter 6 and two versions of the Slime Season series. In the next year, Thug launched some commercial mixtapes like Jeffery, Slime Season 3 and I'm Up. His mixtape Beautiful Thugger Girls came out in 2017.
Young Thug was the recipient of MTV Music Award in 2017. His album Barter 6 found a place in US Billboard 200 and his most popular single Picacho made it to the top 100 tracks in Pitchfork and Rolling Stone.
Thug’s uniquely eccentric vocal style won him a lot of praise, but had to take a lot of criticism as well. The critics described his style as a departure from traditional rap lyricism and the unintelligible meaning of the lyrics also became a hot topic of discussion among the critics.
