The Voice 2016: Is Billy Gilman’s Runner-Up’s Single “Because of Me” A Hit For You? Take A Listen!
Rhode Island's Billy Gilman may have come out as the runner-up of Season 11 of "The Voice" but people still love him no matter what. His original debut single, a romantic piano-driven pop ballad called "Because of Me", where Billy tells a BOY that he doesn't want him to "smile" or for his heart to "miss a beat" if he's not the reason behind it (OK poet man...), was a Top 5 hit on the iTunes the night of the Season 11 wrap-up and the following day. Today, two days after Sundance Head beat him, "Because of Me", Billy's "runner-up's single", is still maintaining its selling power and isn't wanting to leave the Top 10 on iTunes yet.
So, Billy's song is definitely somewhat of a hit because it's kind of slaying iTunes presently, but IS IT A HIT FOR YOU? Do you find the song to be amazing and worthy of its iTunes positions or is everything just because of the "hype" of "The Voice"?
I personally think it's a mix of everything. If a nobody had released this ballad, you can bet it wouldn't have made it on the iTunes Top 100 chart. So my theory is that it's because of Billy's charisma, the force of "The Voice", and because the song is cute.
