[1.]
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas

[Add the new stanza at the end of the first time]

[2.]
The joy that he brings
The joy that he brings
The joy that he brings
The joy that he brings

[Together]
Brings...

[1.]
This night
We pray
Our lives
Will show
This dream
He had
Each child
Still knows

[Simultaneously - add a new stanza each second time]

[2.]
We are waiting
We have not forgotten

[3.]

On this night
On this night
On this very Christmas night

The real st. Nick was an orphan and a christian, I believe somewhere in europe. When he grew up he wanted others to know about the gift of christmas (christ), so he left gifts at the orphanage doors each year in hopes (his dream) that the orphans would know they were loved by god from the show of his generosity of giving, just as christ gave of himself. I'm thinking that's what this song is about.

"He" refers to God. "This dream" was the gift of Christ. The gift was to reconcile us and bring us back to God. (Mark 10: 14-16 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.)

Pray that jesus remain the main reason for christmas people are so far from him. Stores created a santa that does not exist and that people of no faith have created to deviated from christ the king. This is a religious holiday whether people like it or not. We as christian are to pay homage to the baby jesus not santa. Who is he some fictious personage that stores created to make "money" and eveybody has fallen into their traps.

Ok, but then what does "This dream He had each child still knows" refer to? The Bible never refers to Jesus having a dream, so if it is in the context of the story of the birth of Jesus, then "he" could be Joseph, to whom an angel appeared in a dream both before (see Mt 1: 20-24) and after (see Mt 2: 13, 19) Jesus was born. But does "each child" still know the content of that dream? Does each Christian adult even know it?

It is erroneous to say that Santa does not exist because he is a mythologization of St. Nicholas who lived in around the 3rd Century, in some languages the word for "Saint" is "Sancta" or "Sankta" which after a bit of corruptions of the language could be rendered "Santa Clause". St. Nick was wealthy and so when someone he knew couldn't afford his daughters' dowries he gave them money anonymously (I can't remember if it was by dropping it down the chimney or more probably putting it through the window. Just because something is not mentioned in the bible, it doesn't mean that it didn't happen, (I believe it was ) St. Paul who stated that Jesus was "like us in all things but sin", so he probably dreamed, and in response to ForHim's comment, yes we Catholics do have doctrines not explicitly stated in the Bible, but they are based on the revelations contained within those books and tradition, further 2 Thessolonians 2:15 says "Hold fast to what I have handed down to you, whether by word of mouth or in writing" and thereby refers to oral tradition and not just scripture, also where do you think the Bible came from, you act like it fell from the sky completed, rather than being assembled by the Catholic Church (including discerning the wrong books out), and finally, where in the Bible does it say that all truth must be explicitly stated in the Bible?

It's funny how Satan counterfeits everything about who Christ is and what God has done on earth to fool men from seeing who God is, and teaching men the he, Satan, is God which is not true. Satan used men to make up Santa Clause which has similar attributes as Christ. For instance, if you replace "Santa Clause" for "Jesus Christ" in the song "Santa Clause is Coming to Town" it fits perfectly. Satan even used the Catholics to counterfeit the Church that Christ has established, the Catholics teaches doctrines that aren't even in the Bible, and they think if you're "good enough" you can go to heaven, which is false statement, because all religion on earth are based off of that concept except for Christians, true Christians, not so-called Christians. They believe the only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ, having faith on Him, which Satan even then steals men by continually throbbing into our heads that we're not good enough, or we just in a sink whole on sin, when reality Christ has overcome sin and through Him alone, we can too, but conquering sin doesn't mean heaven, just means a closer relationship with Christ. What guarantees heaven is "By grace through faith are ye saved, not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not if works lest any man should boast." Eph. 2: 8-9.

Based on the lyrics and the video, I believe it's about Martin Luther King's speech "I Have A Dream". Although, his speech reflects many "dreams", one is that basically all children would someday grow up and be colored blind and equal. Being a Minister he prays that one day our nation will change and become the nation our "creed" (The Constitution) was based on. Since Christmas is about "hope" through the birth of Christ, what a great night for children to sing, pray and remember a "Dream" that quite frankly I believe Jesus Christ himself would be proud of. Not because of what mlk was praying and dreaming for one day, but because it is what Jesus taught everyday.
