Avenged Sevenfold – Critical Acclaim lyrics
Shhh be quiet, you might piss somebody off
Like me motherfucker, you've been at it for too long
While you feed off others insecurities
You stand in front of me and bite the hand that feeds

Self-righteousness is wearing thin
(Lies inside your head your bestfriend)
Heart bleeds but not for fellow men
(Broken glass, your fake reflection)

I've had enough it's time for something real
Don't respect the words you're speaking
Gone too far, a clone

So how does it feel to know that someones kid in the heart of america
Has blood on their hands, fighting to defend your rights
So you can maintain the lifestyle that insults this family's existance
Well, where I'm from we have a special salute we aim high in the air
Towards all those pompous assholes who spend their days pointing fingers

Fuck you!

Shh be quiet, you might piss somebody off
Like the heartbeat of this country when antagonized too long
I'll be damned if you count me in as part of your generous hypocrisy
Collecting enemies

Tabloid gossip queen worthless man
(There's no need for us to bury you)
Selfish agenda once again
(Right this way, you've dug your own grave)

I've had enough it's time for something real
Don't respect the words you're speaking
Gone too far, a clone

All the way from the east to the west
We've got this high society looking down on this very foundation
Constantly reminding us that our actions are the cause of all their problems
Pointing the fingers in every direction
Blaming their own nation for who wins elections
They've never contributed a fucking thing to the country they love to criticize

Excuse the obscene, ignore the untrue
Depictions we see, try and get through
Admitting mistakes can hurt
I'm not the last but I sure ain't the first

Shh be quiet, you might piss somebody off

(Self-righteousness is wearing thin)
Lies inside your head your bestfriend
(Heart bleeds but not for fellow man)
Broken glass, your fake reflection

I've had enough it's time for something real
I don't respect these words you speak
Gone too far, a clone

Okay at the unregistered user from november 30th 2011. You are uneducated. Desert storm was the name of the operation that took place in 1991 against iraqi forces in kuwait. In 2003 american military forces entered iraq not just to find supposed stores of yellow cake uranium that we're being sold to some bad organizations but also to oust saddam hussein because he was torturing his people who didn't agree with him. That's why he was in power for so long. I would do more research before you trash the governments motives for invading a country.

When americans don't see the true hero's out their today. The soldiers! The soldiers bust their butts out for everything they do. You can go against war but don't insult the people that fight. They need every respect from people out there, and behind every soldier is his or her's family. -jason are. Proud son of a senior master sergeant. My life dream is to serve this nation whether you people like it or not.

I'm tired of people saying that this song by the great A7x that this song is political. If your going to review this song then at least pay atention to the lyrics. The thrue meaning of Critical Acclaim is that it critisizes the critizisers. By this I mean it talks about the people who insult the solders in the war. It is not political in anyway. When in the begining where it goes "Shhh be quiet you might piss somebody off" it refers to the people who lay back in america and insults its greatness by insulting never doing anything. What he means by we have a special way of saluting he means the middle finger to those people who only critize their country by insulting the solders. This is the true meaning of the song. Also one of M. Shadows friends is in war. So yea f you people who only critisize.
And just know we are #1 and all others are just jealous.

You guys are why democrats appear like such fuckin dip s*s. Anyone with a brain would be able to comprehend the lyrics the way perplexed did because its obvious that's the true meaning of them. If you have your head out of your a* you will see them in the same light.
If your liberal and still like the song, great! Don't try to manipulate the lyrics into the very thing A7x is spreading against. You don't have to agree with the lyrics the enjoy the song. I both enjoy the song and agree with the lyrics. High time a song was written to combat bands like Green Day. Green Day just takes advantage of the easily persuaded young Americans just to make a fuckin dollar. Makes me sick.
You notice gd didn't get political 'till there was a band wagon for them to jump on? Good for them though, using democracy. I just wish they would admit to it on the mic.

I absolutely love this song. I remember when I was 14 and that special salute line was so perfect. A huge middle finger to the man. Now I have to say I have some gripe with the meaning. Clearly the song is political and a specific line always sticks out to me now "fighting to defend your right". When's the last time the US has fought a war to defend our constitution? US troops in the past almost century haven't fought for our rights at all. From vietnam to iraq all these wars have been an act of aggression on other nations.

If you really think about the lyrics to it, yes they are talking about the war in iraq, but if you truly think about the war, it's govt. Funded, right?
In the band's eyes, they're talking about how screwed up our government is, invading another country because of said nuclear weapons. They came out empty, and that was the reason operation desert storm was put into effect.
They also talk about how unnecessary the iraqi war really is, wasting money that can be used stateside, and the countless number of lives practically wasted over there.

So many people point their fingers and are quick to blame others, even the President, for their lack of success, etc. Take accountability for your own actions instead of being so quick to point fingers.
Also, so many critize war and take it out on our men and women fighting for our freedom. These 'assholes' do not realize that if it weren't for our troops they wouldn't have the right to voice their opinion to have the right to put them down to begin with.
Those that point their finger the fastest are the one's that contribute the least to society thinking someone 'owes' them.

I really love this song haha. It really puts it plainly, how could you be so hypocritical and ignorant? I for one have my father that on April 24th this year is getting deplyed to Iraq until April 12th 2010, so this songs means sooo much to me to hear other people who don't think our war is bullshit (and I don't). Thanks for putting out an incredible song, and supporting soldiers families.

It's pretty much about disrespecting the troops, obviously. "someone's kid in the heart of america has blood on their hands, fighting to defend your rights so you can maintain a lifestyle that insults its family's existence..." it's blatantly about soldiers and the pharisee that support the troops as long as they're in the war, but once the latter return back to their country, the former then are "imposed upon" by the excessive amounts of people. It's also be the people that admonish the united states for its freedom and rights and they live here, which is obviously hypocrisy to a very high and asinine degree (the "generous hypocrisy" which pays taxes but doesn't support its own country).

The war is bullshit. Think about it. People are off fighting because two pompus assholes can't get along. What are they, four? Now, that said, the wars gonna end before your dad gets shipped off because of Obama's inauguration. Now, I love this song because I love controversial songs. That doesn't mean I agree with the views. And one last thing, they talk aboot someone who acts like nothin's wrong while the war rages, but that don't mean they think the war isn't a five-mile-high pile of bullshit.

One last note. Big industrys like oil etc. They pay our politicains to keep us on thier agenda. To keep us lambs following the shepard without question which is why if you read a vote ballot and propositions they can't sum up something simple for what you could be voteing for really is. They do a s*t load of verbal and written gymnastics. Which makes most skratch thier heads like wtf! Yeah it may sound like yeah this is good. To someone who doesn't really follow or may vote to pass something cause the first sentance sounds good. " bite the hand that feeds" we are the hand that feeds. Every working american in this country we pay our taxes we pay the salarys. And way marked up salarys for every gov't idiot in office. The interests arent ours anymore. Its the interests of these supergiant companys buying out who are sapposed to be our leaders to make thier own agenda's for yet more money, which makes the industry lapdogs more money. The people want alternatives. Not a war mongering industry the lines our gov't leaders wallets with more money to keep us stupid and we vote for them. Yeah get the mtv generation to vote. Blindedly which is what they hope for. Ok I'm done ranting but yea like Avenged. I'm pissed.

To me. Ha! What can I say. Other than. This song in my mind. Is about that faggot Bush and his decision to force all our people into Iraq to fight a war that shouldn't be happening still. Yea. I guess a few could be over there. But whatever. They fighting for nothing. This country is fucked anyways. We'll be a barren wasteland before hes out of office. Also it reminds me of a military fag that threatens me all the fuckin time just cuz I got his girl. Now she was single. He just was an a*e. And his heart bleeds for noone but himself. His own stupidity and pushing her insecurities and mine onto us for the hope and the wish that we break up. But its like nothing we say or do will ever change this shitty a* country cuz noone will listen.
