Chris Tomlin – I Will Rise lyrics
There's a peace I've come to know
Though my heart and flesh may fail
There's an anchor for my soul
I can say "It is well"

Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead

And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise

There's a day that's drawing near
When this darkness breaks to light
And the shadows disappear
And my faith shall be my eyes

Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead

And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise

And I hear the voice of many angels sing,
"Worthy is the Lamb"
And I hear the cry of every longing heart,
"Worthy is the Lamb"
And I hear the voice of many angels sing,
"Worthy is the Lamb"
And I hear the cry of every longing heart,
"Worthy is the Lamb"
"Worthy is the Lamb"

And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees

And rise
I will rise
I will rise

My church choir is learning this song. It is so comforting & fills my heart with such peace. My Mother passed away last April after a long illness. She was a wonderful Christian Mother who lived her entire life ready to meet her Lord. Through the years when I would say, Momma I don't think I can live without you. She would gently but firmly say, "when he calls my name I'm ready". I cannot make it through the song without crying, b/c I remember the words of my sweet Mother.

I truly love this song. Anytime I hear it my spirit is uplifted. Jesus is the peace and the anchor we have come to know. Our body may fail us through sickness, pain, and sorrow. But in all these we can boldly say it is well because we know Jesus has overcome dead for our sake. Therefore we can enjoy eternal life not on earth but in heaven when the glorious day come. We shall see all our loved ones who have passed away. When God call their names, they will arise and we all shall give thanks and praises to God, there will be no more crying, no more pain, and no more sorrow. What a glorious day that will be!

I heard this song today as I was leaving the funeral of a childhood friend's young son. I've watched him grow up daily, as we live close by. This young man has struggled throughout his life with addiction and it just broke my heart. He was trying so hard to get clean, but he lost his struggle on Christmas Eve night. He was found Christmas morning.
    Also.
My daughter's bestfriend (just turned 24) has been battling ovarian cancer for almost three years. She has struggled so much and has endured so much pain. The doctor's have told her there is nothing else they can do. We have all prayed for a miracle, but a healing miracle may not be God's plan. My daughter has questioned so many times, why? I've tried to direct her to see that he has given us a miracle because she was able to have one more birthday and one more Christmas. In July the doctor didn't think she would even leave the hospital, but God has given her more time with her family and friends. That was such a wonderful miracle. Although we still want the miracle of healing forever, we have to give God our love and trust that his will be done, regardless of the pain and sorrow we feel in our heart. She is a Christian and we know she will rise to meet our precious Lord, but our hearts still hurt here on earth.
If you have time, please say a prayer that God will ultimately heal her body and let her stay here with us.
I love this song and it makes me think of her journey.

I love this song so much and it really touches me every time I listen to it. No matter the obstacles you have gone through or you are going through now, just know that the only answer to a peace of mind is to know that jesus is the one we should look up and follow with all our hearts.
I know am well when I fall and I will rise when he calls my name.

My Daddy rose up on eagles wings 8-5-11. I know when he heard those angels singing he didn't want to be back on earth. The morning before Daddy went to Heaven, he told me he was tired because he rode a white horse all night. I didn't really think anything of it until I read Rev 19. It talks of the warriors coming out of Heaven on white horses. I'm still missing my Daddy so bad but I'm so thankful that I know he is with Jesus. I know one day I Will Rise too. Thank you for writing this song, when I heard it, I had a peaceful feeling and I knew Daddy was okay.

Was just worshiping using with this song and it hit me that Stephen could well have sung this on his last earthly day, "Look," he said, "I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God."
I wonder. In that moment when he saw Jesus and as he cried out to the Lord to receive his spirit and for Him to forgive the people did Stephen hear the voice of many angels and saints singing "worthy is the Lamb!"?

Just heard this chorus for the first time, my wife passed 21/3/2015 on my birthday. We were married on her birthday. She had battled with cancer but never gave up or her faith. This song is an affirmation of the glory she shares and that we will meet again. Be encouraged. I feel so uplifted.

I work as a cna for a very young boy (under the age of one) who has a terminal illness, his grandmother is the definition of ultimate faith in our lord. She has lite my path back to jesus. I pray that when his time comes, jesus will bless his family with peace and acceptance. This child has been apart of god's plan for all those that surround him, for me as his caretaker coming into my life has lead me back to the loveof god that I had fought so long for. For his grandmother, the ultimate surrender to god's will and with that came peace and understanding.

This song tells us that people will rise for Jesus. This is telling people that you should rise before Jesus and praise His holy name. This should be an influence to all of our lives. We should live the lyrics of this song. Got to YouTube and find the first option. Pay attention to the pictures! If you have lost hope in God, when you see those pictures, your faith will be 100%!

    Mathew 16:

For what is a man profited... Such persons, though they are only seeking their own profit, will find themselves most sadly mistaken; for of what advantage will it be to such a man, if he shall gain the whole world; all that is precious and valuable in it; all the power, pleasures, and riches of it; if with Alexander, he had the government of the whole world, and with Solomon, all the delights of it; and was possessed with the wealth of Croesus, and Crassus, and lose his own soul? If that should be consigned to everlasting torment and misery, be banished the divine presence, and continually feel the gnawings of the worm of conscience that never dies, and the fierceness of the fire of God's wrath, that shall never be quenched, he will have a miserable bargain of it.

Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Or, "for the redemption" of it, as the Ethiopic version renders it: see Psalm 49:8. If he had the whole world to give, and would give it, it would not be a sufficient ransom for it; the redemption of an immortal soul requires a greater price than gold and silver, or any corruptible thing; nothing short of the blood and life of Christ, is a proper exchange, or ransom price for it. But in the other world there will be no redemption; the loss of a soul is irrecoverable: a soul once lost and damned, can never be retrieved. This passage is thought to be proverbial; what comes nearest to it, is the following (x).

"If a scholar dies, we never find an exchange for him; there are four things which are the ministry or service of the world, , if they are lost, they may be changed; and they are these, gold, silver, iron, and brass, Job 28:1 but if a scholar dies, , who will bring us his exchange? or an exchange for him: we lost R. Simon, "who will bring us his exchange.

On my way to church today I was thinking of a coworker/ friend that was near the end of her long battle with cancer. I felt so sad as she is in her 30 and leaving behind a little boy. I began to pray for her peace and comfort and this song came on the radio. I felt comforted knowing she is in gods arms. She passed a wag a few hours later.

I walked into my friend's (of nearly 40 years) room this morning at 5am after a phone call that she had just passed away from cancer. As she lay there, still and frail, I realized that this song was drifting from a radio that we had next to her bed playing the christian radio station. As the words filled my ears, the presence of the lord filled the room and the victory over death was real and glorious. Her family was going to have her cremated with no christian memorial and I looked at the friend who was with me and told her that god was having his own funeral service for her right then and there! What a beautiful song for her as she made her journey to heaven.

I am in christ a new creature. I've been reborn because he defeated satan, bringing us into light out of darkness. We no longer have to die a single final death. Our bodies die but we return "home" to be with our lord jesus christ because he took on our sin unto himself and paid the penalty of death for us. We will have eternal life. Whether we die or are caught up with him when he returns, we will enter into eternal life because we've accepted his free gift, accept him and showed him faith and belief. We will rise to heaven with our lord jesus christ.

When I heard this song, I cried a lot. I am personally in very difficult situation, because I am unempoyed, relationship with my spouse is very bad and financial status is not good. I feel so much guilty for all of these and am so sad and painful, because I think I am responsible for all this misery. It would be better to give up everything and no reason or hope to continue my life. I really wish to rise when god calls my name with no more sorrow nor pain. I know that he loves me and is risen from the dead. I pray that the lord will give me the last chance to rise again, my strength will be renewed and I will rise on eagle's wings again. I love you god. Amen!

While it is about being able to go to heaven, it's more about how Jesus made it possible for us to go. I personally don't think that our physical bodies are worthy to go to heaven. It's definitely more on the focus on Jesus and how his perfect soul opened the doors for all of us to be able to rise, and because the Lamb is worthy, he calls on us; when he calls on, us we will rise. When that happens, we have entered Heaven and entered into the perfect world of no sorrow or pain.

This song is about the second coming of Jesus. "Every eye will behold him" when he comes to take us home. There would be no need for a second coming if our souls were already in heaven. The dead know nothing (Ecclesiastes 9: 5), they are resting until Christ comes not in Heaven, but there are some that will still be alive when Jesus comes. God bless.
1 Thessalonians 4 says "For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first"

As my Papa was passing away I looked at him. He used to work at the marine. He had a anchor tattoo. As we drove home in the car this song played. I Knew that he would hear it, while his spirit drove with us forever protecting us. My Nana said he would be with us watching us. He would smile, watching as I grew staying with me forever. I Always make sure that all his stuff is safe.

As I go to his grave I put that CD that has this song in it and listen to every meaningful word and sometimes. I cry. Missing everything me and him used to do. I try to fight my tears but... They're happy tears. Papa I love you!

My papa was 78 When he passed. My nana is 75 right now. My father is 29. My step-mother is 32. I am 9. My youngest sister 2 weeks old. The other young step one is 2. My big step-sister is 13. My other big step-sister is 15. They are the ones I live with. My Little brothers are, 3, 5, 6, 8, and 9. My only real sister is sage. Sage if your out there I hope you are okay. I love you. I hope you know I am happy but I still miss you. If you would ever call me. Well actually. Remember Black grandma she gave you her name it started with A. I love you!

I think I will rise is saying that jesus died for us, so in turn we can rise for him. He gave his life, why can't we just risk our reputation. Wouldn't it be an honor to be known as the jesus freak! Or to be shuned because we love god/jesus and believe in him! So I think this song means that jesus died, so now it's our turn to rise to the ocasion for jesus like he did for us.

My wife is a teacher of disabled children; today, she has had to deal with the extremely difficult death of a child, less than a week after a diagnosis of brain cancer. While I won't post a link, you can google "miracle 4 maddie" to find the whole story. But it is heartwrenching. It is so appropriate that we sang this song in worship sunday, and she has been listening to it. I have always deeply loved the old hymn "it is well", as it was the favorite and sung at the funeral of greatest- who was also the most godly! - man I've ever known, a second father to me. The lyrics of our flesh failing, but having the anchor and being able to say, as horatio spofford did, "it is well" in the midst of deep pain really hits home. Thanks to chris, matt, and the rest of the team for yet another modern song with timeless depth.

This song resonated over the last few weeks as my Mother suffered with the final days of renal and heart failure. Last Friday God called her to rise to be with Him and to no longer endure pain or suffering. As someone else posted previously: While it is about being able to go to heaven, it's more about how Jesus made it possible for us to go. It's definitely more on the focus on Jesus and how his perfect soul opened the doors for all of us to be able to rise, and because the Lamb is worthy, when he calls on us we will rise. When that happens, we enter Heaven and enter into the perfect world of no sorrow or pain. What a glorious reunion she is experiencing and we anxiously await rising to God's call to be with Him.
