Mahalia Jackson – Trouble Of The World lyrics
Soon I will be done
With the troubles of the world
Troubles of the world
Troubles of the world
Soon I will be done
Troubles of the world
I'm going home to live with God

No more weepin' and wailin'
No more weepin' and wailin'
No more weepin' and wailin'
I'm going home to live my Lord

Soon I will be done
With the troubles of the world
Troubles of the world
Troubles of the world
Soon I will be done
Troubles of the world
I'm going home to live with my Lord

I want to see my mother
I want to see my mother
I want to see my mother
I'm going home to live with God

Soon I will be done
With the troubles of the world
Troubles of the world
Troubles of the world
Soon I will be done
Troubles of the world
I'm going home to live with God

This song means to be that one day this life shall end and I will live with the lord forever. The toubles of the world and getting worse day by day and one day we will all stand before the king jesus. In this song she wants to go home to live with the father and her see her mother. A place where there will be no more pain and sorrow for her heart. I love this song b/c one day I will live with my lord and when the time comes I hope I'm ready. God bless you :)

Soon could mean sometime in the future or maybe right now, our days of anguish, pain, grief and tears will end. All work will end, even if it is just breathing. Our cares won't mean a thing. It will be an eternal rest until Jesus comes to take his family home, whether that be an earthy paradise or heavenly. I hope it's heavenly because I'd like to see the Father and the Son. Maybe I'll even get to see my Mother and my husband whom I've shared my earthly life with. I think this song means something special to all of us, because we all have some kind of trouble or grief. But the part I like is, "no more weeping and wailing"; whether it's childbirth, happiness, pain, or grief, God will wipe away all tears for all times.

This song does not necessarily always refer to an individual on their death bed. I personally believe it is about rising above the physical realm and admitting to oneself "how long are you willing to dwell on these materialistic beliefs? ". Reiterating the message that this world is but a short while and no matter how much pain and suffering you are set to endure there will be a time, your epithany if you will where you understand that you have a higher cause. This ladies and gentleman means you will be freed from the shackles of fear and worry and leave it all up to the almighty for this world is only a snapshot. This is my personal take on it, feel free to add anything :)

This gives me something to look forward to during trying times. I have been through some dire situations and when I realize that this too shall pass, it gives me hope and strength to hold on. It reminds me that jesus went to prepare a place for me and that one day I will be able to live with him. I live in pain daily and a troubled heart many times with loneliness for want of a helpmete, but I realize that one day this will end and I will with my god who will supply my every need. It helps me accept what I have and be content and just to wait on god.

I think about the slave children who were taken from their mothers arms and sold before they even got a chance to know her. When it says "I want to meet my mother" I think it is literally meeting her for the first time. And the weeping and wailing that would occur because a mother's child was taken from her breast I cannot imagine. Sometimes it was to force the mom to nurse a white woman's baby.

One day every man and woman will rise up and awaken to a higher consciouness. To know that god is with us always and that everything is alright. The physical pain you feel, the mental suffering you experience is the test you designed for yourself to learn something about yourself. Some will come to know this on earth, while others will know this during their transition from this world. We will all eventually know this.
