Paramore – Fences lyrics
I'm sitting in a room,
Made up of only big white walls and in the hall
There are people looking through
The window in the door they know exactly what we're here for

Don't look up
Just let them think
There's no place else
You'd rather be.

You're always on display
For everyone to watch and learn from,
Don't you know by now,
You can't turn back
Because this road is all you'll ever have.

And it's obvious that you're dying, dying.
Just living proof that the camera's lying.
And oh oh open wide, 'cause this is your night.
So smile, 'cause you'll go out in style.
You'll go out in style.

If you let me I could,
I'd show you how to build your fences,
Set restrictions, separate from the world.
The constant battle that you hate to fight
Just blame the limelight.

Don't look up
Just let them think
There's no place else
You'd rather be.

And now you can't turn back
Because this road is all you'll ever have.

And it's obvious that you're dying, dying.
Just living proof that the camera's lying.
And oh oh open wide, 'cause this is your night.
So smile.

Yeah, yeah you're asking for it
With every breath that you breathe in
Just breathe it in.
Yeah, yeah well you're just a mess
You do all this, big talking
So now let's see you walk it
I said let's see you walk it

Yeah, yeah well you're just a mess
You do all this, big talking
So now let's see you walk it
I said let's see you walk it

And it's obvious that you're dying, dying.
Just living proof that the camera's lying.
And oh oh open wide, yeah oh oh open wide.
Yeah, oh oh open wide,
'Cause you'll go out in style.
You'll go out in style.

I think the part about your just a mess you do all this big talking means that some people when they become famous they lose themselves and atart acting fake and the part about its obvious your dying is about how they look on camera all perfect and beautiful but deep down inside their trus selves are dying away and soon their will be nithing left but cold perfectly pretty outershell.

Okay correction to what I said before. I think this song means that like your on the road to become like a celebrity [well in this case]. And now you've set yourself as an expectation or like a role model like how she says "your always on display, for everyone to watch and learn from". And when she says "build your fences, set restrictions", it means like how you want to live a normal life sometimes. And like have a private life, instead of having cameras all up in your face. [i think] yet now you are constantly battling with the paparazzi. But I honestly don't get what she means about going out in style. Oh wells.

Il this song sooo soo much! Its ashame demi lovato copies them too much, but its freedom of speech right? Anyway, please don't lead this into a real big argument cuz datz da last thing I want to do. I just want to let out my opinion, if you like demi good for you! (n/o was taken). Anyway, this song talks about wen ur famous, you might act realli nice nd all to the public, but realli ur just fake. Datz what I think. But you mite not be like dat at all at first, but then you get so caught up in the industry business, and begin to lose the person who you realli are. Nd datz wen u'll "Go out in styllleee" =D thx you guyz for reading my long speech. Hehe [om goshkas, I dn't want to be a celebrity anymoreee! Insiderz] baaa-Iii bai.

If fame and fortune is what you've prived yourself on all your life you'll have nothing when its gone when you want to turn back you really can't because you have nothing else left so you pretend to be happy when in reality your miserable and you realize its not all what you thought it would be before its all you had and now that there's no choice but to continue on that path it kills you slowly and painfully on the inside.

Well, what I think is basically the same as everyone. It's about someone who's famous wanting to get out of the limelight because the constant pressure is slowly killing them - whether emotionally or physically is left unsaid but the point stands - and they realise that they can't get out. It's kind of a contradiction because they're dying from the fame but it's all they'll ever have, so they crave it too and they can't show what they feel because it'll mean bad publicity.
This is honestly my favourite Paramore song, followed by Let The Flames Begin and I really, really hope they continue to make songs as good as this, even with the loss of two members.
So yeah, Don't Stop The Beat!

I kinda feel stupied saying this but, even though I love paramore and being famous is hard, it was a let down to me. To me it sounds like there in a meet and greet place and waiting for the people to come in and they really don't want to be there. I wanted to go to a meet and greet with paramore but now I'm scared if I do they "wont look up and let me think theres no place else they'd rather be" but secretly behind there smile they'll look at me as if I'm just another fan and really just want to sign my crap and get out of there.
I'm biggest paramore fan but that's just my opinion on the song. I love you forever paramore.

The background music and the way the words go so fast reminds me of panic! At the disco. I absolutely love this song, and I agree with all the people who said it's about being a celebrity and putting up fences, trying to separate yourself from the people who want to pry into your life. And it's about putting up a front, making people think you're happy all the time because you know how everyone loves a scandal, when one little thing goes wrong, the paparazzi totally blow it up into a huge thing, so to avoid this they make it seem like everything's perfect. Not really sure what she means by "cause this is your night so smile, cause you'll go out in style." I thought at first it was about how a lot of celebrities commit suicide, but I don't think she means "go out" like that. Not really suree. Any ideas?
